Barchem4 supporting video courtcase in Rotterdam

On 12 februari there will be court in Rotterdam about case Barchem 4.
On a night in late October 2009, an incident occured at a mink fur farm in Barchem (East-Holland), resulting in the release of 5,000 mink, most of which were never re-captured.
The Dutch police subsequently arrested four people who were accused of releasing the mink from the farm. The police proceeded to raid three apartments, taking all computers, digital devices, shoes, and various other items.
Three of the four defendants were remanded in prison (for between 4 weeks - 3 months), with strict restrictions and inadequate food. They were then released on bail pending a court case. The fourth was released from police custody after three days.
10 months arrest and another 5 months probation for 3 of the arrested people and 15 months arrest for the fourth person.

The 12nd of February the next hearing of the "Barchem 4" case will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It's unclear whether if this will be the last hearing before the sentence or not.
As many of you already know, the prosection has asked for 10 months of custody + 5 months of probation time for 3 of the defendants, and for 15 full months of custody for the fourth defendant.
To better understand how this case has developed it’s useful to point out that:
- A special police unit has been formed several years ago just with the aim of gathering intelligence against activists and organize repression against the animal liberation movement in the Netherlands.
- Several surveillance methods have been used against the activists : tracking devices under cars, physical surveillance, phone have been tapped for long extensions of time.
- During the trial the prosecution still has not provided any good reason for the observation methods used: we still don’t know why such a massive amount of police surveillance was employed against the activists, even if the lawyers of the defendants repeatedly asked for answers on this matter.

2 years for releasing minks as well as the whole police investigation is completely crazy!
Maybe plan a public event where people can discuss the case and see what help might be needed?
