Komende topprotesten: Blockupy, G8

De 'blockupy' versie 2 staat nu aardig in de steigers. Op vrijdag 31 mei gaat de Europese Centrale Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt geblokkeerd worden door 'massale acties van burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid'. De dag erna, op zaterdag 1 juni, is er een grote demonstratie. De ECB is doelwit omdat het centraal staat in het crisis/bezuinigingsbeleid van de EU. De organisaties die de blokkade en demonstratie organiseren, stellen zich vierkant op tegen het nu gevoerde bezuinigingsbeleid.
De acties zijn deze keer veel uitgebreider voorbereid dan een jaar geleden. Zo zal er een antikapitalistisch actiecamp zijn dat vanaf woensdag 29 mei operationeel zal zijn, en waar toestromende actievoerders onderdak kunnen vinden en ook voorbereidende bijeenkomsten gehouden worden. Mensen die meedoen wordt daarom gevraagd tenminste op donderdag naar het camp te komen. Het camp ligt in het Rebstock-park, ten westen van het Centraal station. Daar vandaan is het wel een paar kilometer lopen naar de EVB, maar daar staat tegenover dat er officiële toestemming is. Tot dusver hebben de autoriteiten nog niet zoals vorig jaar gereageerd met het drastisch verbieden van de activiteiten.
Het plan voor vrijdag 31 mei is om vroeg in de ochtend vanuit verschillende vertrekpunten naar (het gebied rond) de ECB te trekken en daar straatblokkades te maken. Als eenmaal blijkt dat de torenflat effectief geblokkeerd is, willen groepen ook andere hoofdkantoren van multinationals en banken in de omgeving blokkeren. Migratie-activisten roepen om om dan ook massaal aandacht te schenken aan het vliegveld van Frankfurt, dat de grootste uitzetvluchthaven van het land is.
De acties worden net als vorig jaar georganiseerd door een brede coalitie, met daarin naast activistische groepen ook de partij Die Linke en gematigder ngo's. Het radikalere netwerk dat vorig jaar kort voor blockupy een demonstratie in Frankfurt organiserde op 31 maart, heeft de acties dit jaar niet voortgezet en sommige deelnemende organisaties zijn overgegaan naar Blockupy (zoals 'Ums Ganze')

Enkele dagen later vergadert de G8, de regeringen van de 8 rijkste landen, op een afgelegen golfgebeuren in Noord-Ierland.
Britse activisten grijpen die gelegenheid aan om op te roepen voor kleurrijke actie in het financiële district in Londen. 11 juni is de centrale dag voor een Carnival against Capitalism (#J11) in the West End of London, maar acties en andere evenementen worden van 8 - 15 juni georganiseerd.

Aanvankelijk was onduidelijk of er ook in (Noord)Ierland iets tegen de G8-top georganiseerd zou worden. De plek van de top is zoals tegenwoordig gebruikelijk moeilijk te bereiken en ligt op een afgelegen landpunt http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-foyle-west-20407937 ver weg van enige grote stad.
