call out in solidarity with the NO TAV ACTIVISTS in italy
demonstration on monday 19 march sustaining val susa (NO TAV) AND ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS IN ITALY
the construction of high speed train (TAV) connection between italy and france has been contested for the past 20 years..
the point of tensions in the last year has been the place where the first tunnel is planned to be dug.the area has been occupied by NO TAV activists :the fort called FREE REPUBLIC OF MADDALENA has been evicted after strong riots in the 21 july 2011....on the 26 january 2012 , 26 people were arrested , mainly anarchists , in a operation targetting people all over italy, in total 37 people were arrested , 11 during the first riots last summer .
on monday 27 february the police began clear the land in order to make space for the train , on the same day LUCAS ABBA ,a local farmer and well know activist , climbed up an electricity pylon to try and block the police operation to prevent the expropriation of the land. the police followed him up the pylon , forcing him higher and higher until he was electrocuted , at which point he fell a height of 15 metres. It took nearly one hour for the ambulance to arrive ,as usual delayed by riots vans blocking the road. LUCAS is still in hospital , after being in a coma for 1 week . the latest news is that he is on the road to recovery and has begun to speak again .
SOLIDARITY has been taking place since the 27 feb , including actions and blockades in more that 60 cities in italy .There have also been many actions in solidarity internationally , specifically in france.BLAME AND SHAME to all cops involved in the operations under the direction of officer MANGANELLI , who was also the chief in charge of the BRUTAL operation regarding the g8 in GENOVA . This won MANGANELLI promotion and a pay rise , currently he earns a salary of 600.000 euros p/a
