The Critical Students Utrecht bring back monthly Basta! events at the Kargadoor. On the 14th of March we will host a panel on Perspectives within Feminism and touch upon subjects such as intersectionality, the image of feminism and change in gender perspectives.
We are back with our monthly Basta! at the Kargadoor, this time in the form of a panel on the different perspectives within feminism!
Discussions about and through feminism are important more than ever, as we see rising awareness in our surroundings. This allows for a real questioning of the discourses around and how they affect each of us, and of the different ways each of us can act and feel empowered in a society that can seem crushing.
Do you sometimes feel discouraged in your own feminism? Has it ever been difficult for you to voice your opinion or find your place in the feminist movement? If you attended, maybe your experience at the Women’s March sparked some questions?
This panel will allow people from different backgrounds to come together and give and discuss their own experiences and opinions! We think everyone’s voice should be heard, and that listening and discussion are key elements in shaping empowerment.
We will touch upon subjects such as intersectionality, the image of feminism and change in gender perspectives. How have we been differently affected by Feminism in our lives? What are societal, political and economical aspects that Feminism allows us to challenge? And how do we each discuss, share and advocate feminism? These are a few of the questions we would like to discuss to create new insights at our panel on March 14th at the Kargadoor in Utrecht!
The speakers in the panel will be:
Longina Jakubowska - teacher of “Gender and Sexuality” at University College Utrecht
Tessel - member of Pisswife Art Collective in Amsterdam
Martine Heijthuyzen - co-founder of “Wonda Women”
(possible other speakers to be confirmed)
