WONDELMEERSEN BEZET!
Sinds 20 juni, de zomerzonnewende, zijn de Wondelgemse Meersen bezet en uitgeroepen tot autonome zone!
Dit natuurgebied, 14ha groot, is het laatste aaneengesloten stuk wildernis van wat ooit een uitgestrekt moerasgebied was in het noorden van Gent.
Als het aan vervoersmaatschappij De Lijn en politici als Zuhal Demir (N-VA) en Lydia Peeters (Open Vld) ligt, zouden de Wondelmeersen binnenkort vernietigd worden om plaats te maken voor een zogenaamde “groene” stelplaats voor bussen en trams. Maar een “groene” stelplaats bouw je niet ten koste van waardevolle groene natuur.
De buurt is al lang in verzet hier tegen en richtte het actiecomité “Bloemekenswijkbos” op. Ook werd door een groep biologiestudenten meer dan 40 beschermde diersoorten ter plekke aangetroffen waaronder de muurhagedis, alpenwatersalamander, kleine watersalamander, vos, steenmarter en ijsvogel.
Tot nu toe zijn zowel de buurtbewoners als de beschermde diersoorten die er leven genegeerd.
Met deze bezetting vervoegen we ons bij de strijd van de buurtbewoners. Er wordt een autonome zone gecreëerd die instaat voor de bescherming van dit natuurgebied. We kruipen de bomen in en blijven daar totdat de Wondelmeersen gered zijn.
We zijn niet tegen een nieuwe stelplaats an sich, wel tegen de vernietiging van waardevolle natuur. Terwijl de lijn doet alsof er geen andere opties zijn liggen er minstens 6 alternatieve locaties op tafel…
Waardevolle stadsnatuur onherroepelijk vernietigen en betonneren is geen optie!
Tijd voor directe aXie dus! Kom af want als de politiek faalt, dan moeten we het zelf doen!

A group of biology students also found more than 40 protected animal species on the spot, including the wall lizard, alpine water salamander, small water salamander, fox, stone marten and kingfisher.
Until now, both the local residents and the protected animal species that live there have been ignored.
With this occupation we join the fight of the local residents. An autonomous zone is created that is responsible for the protection of this nature reserve. We crawl into the trees and stay there until the Wondelmeersen are saved.
We are not against a new depot in itself, but against the destruction of valuable nature. While De Lijn acts as if there are no other options, there are at least 6 alternative locations on the table …
Valuable city nature irrevocably destroying and concreting is not an option!
