it's an interesting time for both london and amsterdam, but for different reasons i think.
the type of gentrification which is talked about in the original rektoverso article is different to that happening around elephant and castle in london. i suppose elephant and castle is comparable to the spuistraat in that it's being made explicitly elite, whereas what's happening in general in amsterdam with the "creative vrijplaatsen" is more akin to what happened to shoreditch with the rise of the "creative industry" and "new media".
yes it's all gentrification but i think it at some point becomes unhelpful to clump it all together as "the rich peoples are taking over" because, for example, with the rise of the creative class, it's not only about specifically, essentially "rich people".
