Message of Peace from Muhammad Ali
Worldwide Peace has been my lifelong passion. True Peace is more than an absence of war. It comes from an honest appreciation
and love for everyone, no matter what their race, religion or politics. It is only when we open our selves to the possibility of
love for everyone we encounter - family, friends and strangers - that we can expect true and lasting peace.
My whole adult life has been dedicated to peace -- from the 1960´s when I faced prison and the loss of my title because I
believed the war in Vietnam was wrong, up to this morning when I prayed that all the people in the world could learn to love one
another.
When I meet a new person, I don´t see a race or religion - I look deeper. Souls tell the truth about a person. Look into
people´s eyes and you will see into their souls. Once you begin to make that essential connection to other people, you will find it
impossible to contemplate waging war against them.
Far too many people in the world live in fear that they won´t live to see tomorrow. We must learn to satisfy our conflicts
peacefully and to respect one another. It is a big goal, but it is worth fighting for. As we enter the new millennium, I truly
believe the greatest is yet to come...
