Poppodia in zwaar weer Ron242 - 01.07.2004 21:30
The board of Atak has fired the programmer and 3 other employees. This is due to fundingproblems. The board of ATAK have fired 4 people, amongst them the programmer. The programmer is/was working on a good program to get things going again. Ken Ishii, Robert Hood, Ed Rush, Legowelt & Orgue Electronique have played there last year thanks to him. It's a money thing. They even have fired them while they have reported sick. Atak has problems with it's financial budget. Not even real big problems. Yet the city of Enschede decides to get Andre Rieu [some waltzer] for 400.000 euro! Atak is one the podia who gets the less amount of money from the government. Doornroosje gets 500.000 euro while Atak gets 140.000 on a yearly basis. Atak is the best performing poppodium in the netherlands. If they continue this policy the popculture [including dance] in Holland will be full of small bands and the public will even stay away more. link in dutch to an article about this: 3voor12 The government should invest in the underground. If they continue with this policy the popculture slowly will cease to a halt. And thereby the popular culture, like the top40 stuff will get poorer and poorer in content. The Big boys should remember that the underground provides the popular culture with ideas and bands. Arts is like a car, without 'boegies' the thing doesn't move! The dutch government received half a billion on extra income. They should invest some into the popculture. |
