activists unite! kids love animals - 20.03.2006 03:54
The World Meat Congress 2006 is a bi-annual meeting of the meat industry’s leading players to discuss ways of improving the efficiency and productivity of the meat industry, see INTENSIVE FARMING, and is held in a leading meat producing nation. This year Brisbane has been chosen as the host city. When: April 26 – 29 - lock this in your diary to make sure you are available Where: Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Brisbane, Australia. The Chairman of the Congress, Mark Spurr (remember that name) has said “This is the biggest and most important meat industry event on the calendar”. It would only be courteous for us in reply to make this the biggest and most important anti meat industry event on our calendar. Ethicists Against Tyranny (E.A.T.) invites activists from around the world to unite and join us in Brisbane as we voice our disapproval of this unspeakably cruel and totally unnecessary industry that is ethically, environmentally, ecologically, economically and hygienically reprehensible. This Congress is a concerted, organised push by the meat industry to sanitise and popularise their barbaric and hellish farming practices by creating a ‘congress’ under the auspices of research into a ‘safe’ and ‘sustainable’ meat industry, and requires an equally concerted response from those of us who say “there is no place for factory farming in a civilised world”. One of the listed guest speakers is Dr David Bayvel, president of the OIE Animal Welfare Working Group. He will be discussing key issues and trends in community expectations within the animal welfare arena. As it is highly unlikely, considering the usual levels of integrity displayed by the meat industry when compiling ‘facts’ and ‘research’, that animal rights advocates, or the community itself for that matter, will be contacted to determine what the key “trends” and “issues” actually are, it’s important for us to let the Congress, and the world, know exactly how the civilised, compassionate members of the community view an industry that subjects 50 billion gentle, innocent souls a year to rape, torture, confinement, violence, deprivation of every conceivable liberty and natural behaviour, disease, genetic defects, only to have their tragically short lives snuffed out in brutal, callous murder. For more information on this ‘animal health’ congress visit their ‘warm and fuzzy’ site at www.2006worldmeatcongress.com.au E.A.T. is holding a meeting shortly to form a working party, so more details of the protest will be distributed closer to the date. This is an invitation to give you a chance to make preparations to join us for this very important event. Anyone with ethical principles who disagrees with this horrendous and evil industry should be there!
