Cinema & Reflection "LE REBOND POUR LA COMMUNE" A weekend full programm around Peter Watkins' La Commune (Paris 1871) produced in France in 2000. the 27th and 28th of May at Leids Bezet, Leidsestraat 43, Amsterdam In 1871, the whole of Paris was succesfully seized by its inhabitants from the government. Subsequenly, 30.000 people were killed as the regime regained control of the streets. 135 years later, we are faced with increasing state repression backed by the mainstream media. This weekend, Leids Bezet will host the 5 hour epic film LA COMMUNE, presented by the Paris-based REBOND organization. There will be installations, debates, film screenings, lectures, live music and food. Featuring some reflections on the comparisons and differences between current day Squatting, la Commune and the sixties protest movement Provo.
