Braaksmaak, G8 infoavond G8

The topic of the nomadic eetcafe BRAAKSMAAK wil be about the G8, about resistance against the G8. The network Dissent Netherlands is coming this night to give some info about the G8, show some films, have a discussion about actions and a talk about mobilisation in the netherlands and germany.

When you come to BRAAKSMAAK you are sightseeing squatted Rotterdam!
BRAAKSMAAK is still nomadic. This time the lokation is somewhat difficult. We would like to do this in our newly squatted place; Schieweg 61, and probably we will, but if we get evicted before october 19th, Braaksmaak will move to the Poortgebouw (www.poortgebouw.nl)
This BRAAKSMAAK is about the G8, about resistance against the G8. The network Dissent Netherlands is coming this night to give some info about the G8, show some films, have a discussion about actions and a talk about mobilisation in the netherlands and germany. Dissent Netherlands was founded in 2005 and has it's bases in the Hallmarks of the PGA Network (People's Global Action):
1. A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism; all trade agreements, institutions and governments that promote destructive globalisation.
2. We reject all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism and religious fundamentalism of all creeds.
We embrace the full dignity of all human beings.
3. A confrontational attitude, since we do not think that lobbying can have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organisations, in which transnational capital is the only real policy-maker;
4. A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social movements' struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights, as well as the construction of local alternatives to global capitalism.
5. An organisational philosophy based on decentralisation and autonomy.

Tomorrow we will have the BRAAKSMAAK info evening about resistance against the G8. The problem was that we want to do it in , De Groene Voltage, Schieweg 61, but the owner threatens us with filing a report to the police about violating domestic peace (see  http://www.indymedia.nl/nl/2006/10/39660.shtml).
Today we talked about this with the police and they kind of garanteed that they will not take any further steps as long as we are negotiating with PWS (owner). Tomorrow we have another meeting with them. So it is very likely that BRAAKSMAAK will continue in the Groene Voltage, if not, it will be in the Poortgebouw. Come all to join us!
