Violent evictions in Chiapas, -Landstrijd gaat door

Inheemse gemeenschappen in het 'Lacandon Forest' in de staat Chiapas (mexico) worden gewelddadig van hun land gezet door staatspolitie en het leger, ten behoeve van commerciele plannen voor palm-olie plantages en andere activiteiten waaronder toerisme dat onterecht voor 'eko-toerisme' moet doorgaan.
Indigenous communities in the Lacandon Forest in Chiapas are being
violently evicted by federal police and army forces, in support of
corporate plans for oil palm expansion and other activities, including
tourism falsely called eco-tourism.

Op 21 en 22 januari dit jaar werden inheemse volken, levend in twee dorpen in het 'Biosphere' reservaat in de Montes Azules regio, gewelddadig uit hun huizen gezet, al hun bezittingen, gewassen en bomen werden vernietigd. Om te protesteren tegen deze praktijken kun je een protestbrief schrijven aan de autoriteiten in Mexico en Chiapas waarin je oproept om onmiddelijk een einde te maken aan de ontruimingen, de lokale gemeenschappen terug te laten keren naar hun land, de geleden schade te vergoeden en degenen die verantwoordelijk zijn te vervolgen. En in het algemeen om te stoppen met grootschalige palm-olie monoculturen in de regio.

On 21st and 22nd January this year, indigenous communities living in
two villages in the Biospherre Reserve in the Montes Azules region
were violently evicted and had their homes, all their belongings,
crops and trees destroyed. Please write to the authorities in Mexico
and in Chiapas state to support local communities ’and organisations’
calls for an immediate end to the evictions, for return of the
comunities to their land, restitution for the damage which has been
caused, the prosecution of those responsible and for an end of oil
palm monocultures in the area:
