Declaration about those arrested for Russian embassy, Minsk soli needed with rus and belarus - 08.09.2010 13:24
September, 3, 2010, early in the morning, Belarus police and special service men (“KGB”) arrested several guys and girls suspected in being involved into the case with Russian embassy in Minsk attacked on August, 30. Declaration about those arrested in connection with the case of Russian embassy in Minsk The detention was very much like a kidnapping, because law-enforcement bodies did not release any information and for a long time friends and relatives were unaware about the location of the arrested. Later it became known that the arrested were held in Minsk isolation ward. Belarus law says that person may be detained for 72 hours without bringing up a charge. This term expired on September, 6. However, public prosecutor prolonged it for three days more. As of now, seven friends of ours are arrested: Igor Bogachek, Valeriya Khotina, Sergey Sliusar, Nikolay Dedok, Alexey Zhingerovsky, Alexander Frantskevich and Anton Laptenok. Moreover, today at 12 a.m. the police detained Tatyana Semenischeva within the same case. We still do not know whether she is accused of anything or was interrogated as an eye-witness. The arrests happened after on September, 2 Belarus Indymedia ( http://belarus.indymedia.org) published a declaration by before unknown anarchist group “Freedom Friends”. The group took responsibility for bombing Russian embassy in Minsk with Molotov cocktail and stated that they supported those who defended Khimki forest. The news was soon removed as doubtful. It should be noted that Indymedia is a website with free posting, and its news pieces are created by visitors. To post anything you only have to register. We remind that on August 31 night someone threw two Molotov cocktails to the territory of Russian embassy in Minsk. One of cars parked there was damaged. No people suffered. Law-enforcement bodies of Belarus announced that they started investigating the case as arson and hooliganism. |

Tatiana Seminischeva who was detained yesterday ( http://belarus.indymedia.org/20759) thinks the reason for the house-check conducted at her flat is suspicion in copartnership in attack on the Okrestino temporary detention facility at the night of September 6th. In the course of the house-check a mobile phone, a hard disc and a USB were extracted. After a talk with the officers of the law-enforcement agencies Tatiana was dismissed. Friends of Freedom group took responsibility for the attack on the Okrestino temporary detention facility. They had put another statement on the website of the Belarusian Indymedia where it was deleted due to the suspicion in falsity. As is said in the statement: “We take responsibility for all the recent radical actions and assert the guiltless, whom we even don't know, are being accused of”. The activity of many internet media is being observed now. In the statement of the Belapan news agency, published there, it is said that the criminal case upon the attack is commenced under part 2 Article 399 of the Criminal Code (malicious hooliganism). The headlines on the biggest news portals state that the representatives of the law-enforcement agencies have confirmed the information. Though in the same message it is written that the Prosecutor General's Office of the Minsk City Executive Committee have no comments on the situation”. According to the Radio Svaboda , the attendant of the pretrial detention centre disproved the fact of the attack, saying “this information is not correct”. Besides, as our people report, yesterday on Okrestino there were no traces of the combustion or fresh paint. Therefore, we consider the information on attack unreliable and provocative because this action is just an excuse for the further repressions towards people with an active civic-mindedness in the run-up to the presidential elections in Belarus. We remind that seven people are in charge now being suspected in attack on the Russian Embassy on August 30,, 2010. As we have already reported, their detention term was prolonged without any accusations. It may mean the absence of any evidence implicating their copartnership in the incident. Evening of September, 7 some internet media (such as BELTA Belarusian telegraph agency) have published information according to which in the flat of the detained anarchists ostensibly «were found and extracted patrons, plant-based drugs, masks with slots for eyes, literature promulgating the ideas of anarchism». We, the friends of those arrested, assert with dead certainty this information is a cynical lie, an attempt to blow out the interest of society to this case by presenting detained activists as trivial criminals or inadequate persons. We note that information in media concerning our friends is changing everyday . At first, they were accused of the attack on the Russian Embassy, now they are suspected in copartnership in attempts of damaging property of the Belarusbank branch bank and the House of Trade Unions in Minsk on April, 30. What accusation will be next? We also don't understand how «the masks with slots for eyes, literature promulgating the ideas of anarchism» can be a proof of our friends' copartnership to the damaging property of the Belarusbank branch bank and the House of Trade Unions. We demand facts. We demand the law-enforcement agencies to delate concerning whom a criminal case in illicit trafficking in drugs is commenced. We are absolutely sure: seven detainees had nothing to do with drugs, they did not use, keep, produce or distribute them. Instead of this, they led a healthy way of life and went in for sports, promoted student self-government at their universities, were concerned about conflicts at factories, ecological problems, human rights and free access to information. We think the reason for their detention is their views and convictions. Being non-indifferent to the problems of society, they were not afraid to express their opinions, opposite to the official ones. Only because of this they became known to the secret service but not because for what they are accused now. Friends and relatives of those arrested Contacts — minsksolidarity[at]riseup.net | |
