two reasons why animal liberation should not be a priority for any thinking anarchist. 1) People are also suffering harsh conditions all over the planet , they actualy have the capacity (autonomy) to rise up , wich they're actualy doing , so they could use our help a lot beter than stupîd cows 2) The animal liberatio 'scene' is higly infiltrated by the police and serves as a means to attract young radicals to do this pointless mostly envirnmentaly disastrous actions . so fuck off white middleclass kids , show some solidarity with the people of iraq afghanistan tunisia egyt palestina nigeria congo or admit you're just a racist white european who can empathise more with stupid animals than fellow humans and that you're just loking for a cheap way to show how 'good' you are . | nevermindthebullshit | nn - 25.07.2011 13:39
Being critical about Animal Liberation and the people involved in it is good and necessary. But please don't use bullshit arguments. 1. If I understand you correctly, unless a being is capable of rising up itself one should not engage in a struggle for it? So if severely disabled people (i don't like the wording "disability" but it's used in the mainstream so much that i'll just stick to this term for now) are under attack by the state we should not fight for them simply because they are unable to rise up themselves? 2. We should not be involved with any struggle or scene that is facing (high) police infiltration? That rules out so many struggles i'm afraid... Because as you may well know, any (potentially) successful movement has faced police infiltration. Actually, the struggles you mention (egypt, tunisia, iraq, afghanistan) have also faced infiltration and disruption by state authorities, that have pushed the struggling people there into pointless or self destructive behavior. But that does not delegitimize their struggle. Of course it's always easy to whine about white middle class kids, but I'd rather be supportive of those who are involved in different ways of struggle against state and capital rather than be calling them racist white europeans and telling them to fuck off. And if they have tactics and ideologies that I disagree with i'd rather explain to them why I disagree with them than tell them that they are just involved in this kind of behavior just to show how good they are (without giving any explanation why I believe that, because if i did feel that way about them I would tell them that as well). Besides, I think the white european middle class kid going to an animal liberation action in europe and the white european middle class kid going to pick olives and attend protests in palestina are equally prone to doing that stuff just have a cheap way "to show how good they are". | |
