Ontruiming in the Lutkemeerpolder

Police show up in the Lutkemeerpolder at the beginning of the XR Climate Camp to destroy materials and a squatted space ( already for more then 2 months) in order to escalate a peaceful demonstration and destroy resistance in the Lutkemeerpolder.
At 19:00 on Wednesday 11 August thr Police arrived at the end of the first day of the Extinction Rebellion Climate Camp and surrounded an already 2 months long occupied space and are now threatening to destroy all of the gardening materials and other materials used to resist the destruction in the polder. They have no warrant to do so.
This is a perfect moment for the police to show up and create a disturbance to the peaceful and legal demonstration in the polder that XR has negotiated in the past 2 days, as well as to destroy the work of a handful of different action groups working together over the past years to protect the Lutkemeerpolder.

The police took away any materials they deemed ‘related to actions’ and said that for now the tent on occupied land would remain standing.
They said that may not remain the case.
Tomorrow morning XR will continue to build up their klimate kamp.
