Third session – Empowerment through fiction – Wednesday, June 19th, 6.30-10.30 pm
We will look at fictional stories such as 1984, Brave New World, Max Havelaar, in order to understand and try to write fiction that moves people to understand reality.
------------------------
Join us to discover tools for creative expression and let your own creativity burst out!
We will examine different concepts of creative writing to make space for your own thoughts, possibly trapped inside your head for too long. By doing intensive exercises and looking at inspiring examples, our goal is to become able to express ourselves in ways we never thought were possible.
In three sessions, we will look at and try some free writing, critical poetry and empowerment through fiction. At the fourth and last session and together with all participants,we will organize a creative slam night. As a group we will decide what we will create, and when and how we are going to do it.
The Creative Writing Group is a new initiative of KSU. It could be considered an extension of the Reading Groups, where contributors organize lectures and presentations on a variety of topics. At the Creative Writing Group, participants will explore their own creativity and share their thoughts and writings with each other.
We will organize a session every two weeks. The first one will be on Wednesday May 15. Every session will start with dinner at 6.30 pm. Program starts at 7.30 pm, until 10.30 pm. Location: Bookshop de Rooie Rat, Oudegracht 65, Utrecht.
All this is free of charge, although donations will be neither unwelcome nor refused.
