This edition of the People's Kitchen and Rebel Cinema is dedicated to the upcoming Global Divestment Day actions in the Netherlands and the subject of climate activism more broadly. On Sunday 11 there will be Voku in MKZ, on Wednesday 21 there will be film screening in Joe's. All donated funds will go to support the Hambacher Forst occupation.
During the People's Kitchen, on Sunday January 11 in MKZ, we warmly invite you to come and enjoy a banquet created from surplus food donated by local suppliers, followed by a short video screening and action presentation that offers exciting and subversive ideas. More information can be found in the Indymedia agenda and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/865764973463428/
During the Rebel Cinema, which we will hold on Wednesday January 21, we will screen the inspiring documentary "Bidder 70" (2012, 73 min), about Tim DeChristopher, a Utah University economics student who disrupted an illegal oil and gas auction in the U.S. in an extraordinary, ingenious and effective act of civil disobedience. Bidder 70 is a personal story surrounded by a wider context of citizen action, our history of peaceful civil disobedience, and grass roots movements demanding climate justice . Following the screening, students involved in the fossil fuel divestment campaign will shortly present themselves and their exciting plans to take climate activism in the Netherlands to the next level with the Global Divestment Day actions on February 13 and 14 of 2015.
