Today, January 16, we occupied the Amsterdamse Academische Club at the UvA to demand that the university cut ties with climate criminals and create spaces of autonomy.
The police has announced that they will evict before 10 pm today! COME ALL!
Join us in our occupation at Oudezijds Achterburgwal 235! We’ll have workshops, discussions, music, speeches and more!

Our demands are:
1. UvA cuts ties with Shell
2. UvA reveals all ties with the fossil fuel industry
3. Autonomous Spaces for students and staff for discussion and education on Decolonization, Decarbonization and Democratization
We tried for years to speak to the administration of the UvA about their greenwashing and legitimization of Shell’s harm to people and planet, and we were always met with dismissal and empty responses. We decided to escalate our tactics and make our voices heard, hopefully inspiring other students and staff to envision a different university, one that serves communities, mutual aid, solidarity, autonomy and NOT corporate greed and profit over people and planet. We stand in solidarity with the communities ALL OVER THE WORLD affected by the destruction of Shell and who are fighting for their autonomy and ways of life.
We aim to DISRUPT Shell’s business in our study and work spaces. We will not let our university legitimize Shell’s pollution, their lies about climate change, their empty goals, their abuses of human rights and Indigenous rights. Join us!
