Dmitry Petrov, also known as Ilya Leshy, was an anarchist, environmentalist, author of books and articles, and a researcher of Kurdistan. He visited the region twice as a researcher and member of Kurdish self-defense units.
In February 2022, with the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he joined the self-defense of Kiev. Dmitry got missing in the battle in April 2023 on a section of the frontline near Bakhmut as a result of Russian shelling.

On May 25, Anarchist Group Amsterdam is organizing a commemoration meeting with the parents of Dmitry. His father, Dmitry Senior, will present a book about him that will soon be published.
The presentation will be in English and will start at 20:00.
