Wij zijn de jaarlijkse huurverhogingen spuugzat! Na de ongekende huurstijgingenverhogingen van vorig jaar, kunnen we dit jaar wéér forse verhogingen verwachten. Voor alle huurders dreigt een enorme huurexplosie.

Op 10 mei om 14:00 uur demonstreert de woonbeweging, een coalitie van huurdersorganisaties, bewonersgroepen en activisten, voor lagere huren.
Huurders en woningzoekenden worden tot de laatste cent uitgebuit en de overheid laat het gewoon toe. De overheid zou moeten investeren in democratische volkshuisvesting. Maar overal, van minister Mona Keijzer tot de lokale politiek, staat het belang van huisbazen voorop. Iedereen wordt geraakt door deze wooncrisis. Nu is het tijd om er iets aan te doen!
Voor de laagste huren heeft deze regering besloten ze voor twee jaar te bevriezen. Maar dat is geen oplossing, slechts een klein pleister op een hele grote wond. De middensector profiteert hier niet van, en dat zijn juist de meeste huurders. Voor een sociale huurwoning is en blijft de wachtlijst immers vele jaren lang. Daarom organiseren wij huurders om zelf in actie te komen. Gezamenlijk kunnen wij actie ondernemen voor lagere huren en tegen de wooncrisis. Samen strijden we voor huurverlaging, woonzekerheid, zeggenschap en volkshuisvesting, tegen dakloosheid, slecht onderhoud en malafide huisbazen.
Wij gaan niet meer bedelen bij de overheid, wij organiseren huurders om zelf in actie te komen en een front te vormen voor lagere huren en een einde aan de wooncrisis. Toon je solidariteit. Kom ook op 10 mei om 14:00 uur naar het Domplein in Utrecht.

We are fed up with the yearly rent hikes! After the unprecedented rent increases of last year, we can expect massive increases again this year. A giant rent explosion is waiting for all tenants.

On 10 May from 14:00 the housing movement, a coalition of tenant organisations, renters organisations and activists, will protest for lower rents. Renters and those looking for a house are exploited down to the last penny while the government stands idly by. The government should invest in democratic social housing. Instead, everywhere, from minister of housing Mona Keijzer to local politics: the interests of landlords come first. The housing crisis affects all of us, now is the time to do something!
The current government has decided to freeze the lowest rents. But that's not a proper solution, just a drop in the ocean. After all, rents in the middle sector will continue to rise, and that's the largest group. Waiting lists for social housing remain years-long. Since the government will not properly help us, we are taking action ourselves to educate, agitate and organise for lower rents and an end to the housing crisis. Together we fight for lower rents, housing security, and social housing under democratic control, against homelessness, bad living conditions and exploitative landlords.
